Smiley face Definitions of Jihad Grows Ever more comical

advertisement

Words matter in the battle against radical Islam. As Raymond Ibrahim explains, "In the war on terror, to acquire accurate knowledge — which is pivotal to victory — we need to begin with accurate language." And nowhere is accuracy more wanting than in discussions of jihad.

While the term does translate to "struggle," Ibrahim notes that each school of Islamic jurisprudence emphasizes the military aspect of struggling in the path of Allah (i.e., jihad as holy war). Yet PC-addled "experts" continue to insist that jihad is a purely benign endeavor, more spiritual self-improvement than al-Qaeda-style self-immolation (and infidel-immolation). Below are three recently highlighted examples that fail the giggle test.

What's this?
Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

There you have it: jihad is nothing more than a student laboring to pass algebra, a mom driving her kids to soccer practice, or, in the words of the Cambridge study, a civic-minded person engaged in "lobbying, activism, and writing" — a community organizer of sorts.

I have a bridge in Brooklyn, that I am no longer using..and would like to sell it ..any offers

Why Islamists peddle such specious definitions should be clear. More baffling and disturbing is why they gain traction among so many Westerners.

Because westerners would rather deal with a spin pr job than the real deal...at least that's what they are hoping for until 9/11 anniversary comes around again or if another catastrophic event is staged by Jihadists in America and then Katie bar the door.

Yes and Homeland and etc kept it from happening. If big if Jihadist does get through or someone associated with them, that will be Katie bar the door. Last time cooler thinking prevailed, another attack on that scale may not be so carefully considered retaliation

U.S.-Born Imam Anwar Al-Awlaki on the State of Jihad Eight Years After 9/11: The U.S. Cannot Win – There is No Rolling Back the Worldwide Jihad; 'If America Failed to Defeat the Mujahedeen When It Gave Its President Unlimited Support – How Can It Win With Obama Who Is On a Short Leash?... How Can It Win Today With a Recession – If Not a Depression – At Hand?'

In an article titled "Could Yemen Be the Next Surprise of the Season," Anwar Al-Awlaki discussed the state of jihad eight years after 9/11, saying that America "cannot and will not win" and that the rulers in the Arabian Peninsula, specifically the Al-Saud family, must be "removed from existence."

According to his website, Anwar Al-Awlaki, who in 2001 was chaplain at George Washington University,(1) was born in New Mexico, and "studied the Islamic sciences of Quran, hadith, and fiqh with scholars from Yemen. [He] served as an Imam in Denver, Colorado; San Diego, California; and Falls Church, Virginia."(2) He has authored many publications on Islam, including "44 Ways of Supporting Jihad" (to read this document, visit the MEMRI Jihad and Terrorism Threat Monitor,
http://www.memrijttm.org/content/en/report.htm?report=3683¶m=GJN). Also according to his website, Al-Awlaki holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Colorado State University, and a Masters in Educational Leadership from San Diego State University, and currently resides in Yemen.

Following is the article in the original English, as posted on Al-Awlaki's blog; the article also appeared on multiple jihadist websites.(3)

    from the seeded article

"There you have it: jihad is nothing more than a student laboring to pass algebra, a mom driving her kids to soccer practice, or, in the words of the Cambridge study, a civic-minded person engaged in "lobbying, activism, and writing" — a community organizer of sorts."

what we are told is the truth.....and what the truth, seem to be,are vastly different

"Eight Years [After 9/11], the Mujahedeen Are Winning on Every Front and Are Expanding Into New Ones"

"The jihad movement around the world has witnessed a surprising growth during the past few years. After 9/11, America had succeeded in pulling together an international coalition in order to fight the mujahedeen. It invaded Afghanistan and Iraq, put pressure on governments around the world to throw anyone with association with Jihad behind bars, and to stop the flow of money into Jihad movements. All over the world the mujahedeen have suffered an international effort under the leadership of America to bring an end to Jihad. But eight years later, the mujahedeen are winning on every front and are expanding into new ones. It appeared difficult back then to imagine that the world would be the way it is today just eight years after 9/11.

"That is because Rasulullah(saaws) said: 'A group of my ummah will continue fighting in the path of Allah and they will not be harmed by those who are against them.'"

"If America Failed to Defeat the Mujahedeen When It Gave Its President Unlimited Support – How Can It Win With Obama Who Is On a Short Leash?... How Can It Win Today With a Recession – If Not a Depression – At Hand?

This is the result of the meeting of taqquiya (sic) , modern media, and money. This is the 'Big Lie' writ bigger, slicker (and I mean oily), and sneakier.
